My parents always had a dream... They wanted to own a property in Bangalore...... We led a comfortable life but property was always something to yearn for but never got an opportunity to buy.
So a few months back their dream came true for the second time when I decided to buy an apartment. .......... and time came for us to go get it registered and thus began the ordeal... if only I knew it would be this painful, I would have coaxed, requested, forced my parents to find another dream..
The journey began with a horribly disorganized and slow bank (HSBC) with people taking no ownership, to a bank lawyer who was worse than a messenger boy to the sub registrars office which looked liked a brothel..And the highlight was this secluded corner office where people only look at your hands and wallets and not your eyes...
I came out feeling completely disgusted, offended and with a determination to buy cars and jets but never another property.
Will this ever change? Have we gotten so used to this that this has become a part of life? Should we do something about this?
Shal, I agree every bit of what you have written. My husband and I went through the ordeal...only saving grace was that we did not have to visit the dingy little offices as the builder/layout owner had asked the government officials to be present at the layout location for registrations enmasse !!! But disgusting thing was that we had to pay bribe of Rs. 50,000/- (bribe included for all civic amenities) before the registration and that too in cash... and talk about BBMP going bankrupt!!!
